WORKERS' MEMORIAL DAY 4/28/17
| || |
|Sisters and Brothers,|
Workers’ Memorial Day is observed every year on this date 4/28/17, it is also the day OSHA was established in 1971.
We will be remembering all workers who have died in work place tragedies as well as those seriously injured due to workplace hazards.
April 28th is a time to renew our health and safety commitment to each other in preventing future tragedies.
The highest honor we can pay to our coworker and their family members is to prevent a fatal injury from happening to another family.
Ensuring that all safety measures are in place from engineering controls, safety conversation, and a helping hand learning from past mistakes can save a life.
For this reason we will be implementing JHA Training to identify safety hazards in the operating process.
We should not feel uncomfortable letting a coworker know there is a safer way of doing the job and you’re there to help.
Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Two heads and two sets of hands are better than one.
Our UAW Health and Safety Leadership department believe, we are our brothers keepers when it comes to safety in the work place.
Safety and preventing injuries is everyone’s job
We are asking everyone to wear a purple shirt or ribbon on April 28th in support of Workers’ Memorial Day.
At our union meeting on 4/23/17, bags with purple ribbons will be available for pick up to be handed out at your facility. Please pick up a bag of ribbons and hand out to your coworkers on that day.
OSHA area offices (some) will be hosting events on that day. For more information visit the web site:
